YourTango.com recently asked me to co-write along with two other relationship coaches an article on unconditional love for yourself. It was published today on their site:

Unconditional love for yourself is often the most important love you can feel. But are you doing it enough?

Unconditional Love Therapy: Denver COYou love your husband, kids and even your family’s furry friend who always sheds all over your favorite black pants. But what about loving yourself? Do you actively show yourself unconditional love or do you save it for everyone else? We sat down with life coach experts Larry Cappel, Susan Tolles and Marcy Garcea to discuss what unconditional love for yourself really means and how you can achieve those warm glowing feelings for yourself…

The experts agree that unconditional love for yourself is the most crucial but also the hardest to achieve. But what does it mean anyway? According to Tolles, unconditional love for yourself means treating yourself like you would your best friend.

Garcea concurs with the sentiment and adds that when you are unable to love yourself, you seek it from outside sources. “If you are not giving it to yourself, then you are looking for it on the outside…

Cappel notes that that you won’t allow yourself to be loved even if someone comes along with cupid’s arrow. “If you believe that loving yourself means you can’t love someone else enough then you must also believe that love is a scarce commodity; there isn’t enough to go around so you need to be stingy with it. [But] love is not a finite thing. It doesn’t run out!

The entire article which you can read on yourtango.com describes 5 ways to improve your ability to unconditionally love yourself.   Read on to learn the 5 secrets to self love >
